Honoring our 20-Year Whiz Kids Volunteers

Our mission at Whiz Kids is to reduce the opportunity gap for students through one-to-one mentorship and literacy support. We help our students learn to read so that they can read to learn. It is an honor and privilege to recognize our faithful volunteers who have embodied this mission for twenty years: Marla Lobo, Chris Shaw, Nancy Nathaniel, and Marcenna Graham. In their tenure, 13,567 children have been cared for and encouraged, 647,120 meals have been served, and 1,353,280 hours have been invested into the lives of our Whiz Kids through our volunteers. This is all thanks to the unrelenting commitment that they, and others like them, have exhibited.

We asked a few friends to say a few words about the impact, hope, and healing each of them has brought to our community. So settle in, grab a tissue, and help us honor the work of these remarkable individuals.
